1. Job Title: Tissue Culture Potato Technician

Job responsibilities

  • Optimize, and validate tissue culture potato protocols

  • Conduct experiments on potato tissue culture

  • Ensure proper labelling, storage, and waste management

  • Ensure multiplication of disease-free, true-to-type planting materials in aseptic conditions of potato crop

  • Maintain potato mother stock and in vitro cultures

  • Proper handling and disposing of biological waste safely

  • Ensure sterilization, contamination control, and quality standards

  • Maintain equipment, reagents, and laboratory records

  • Train technicians, students, and interns in potato tissue culture techniques

  • Ensure compliance SOPs, biosafety and phytosanitary regulations

  • Data analysis and preparation of technical reports

  • Ensure acclimatization, weaning and handling glasshouse experiments of potato crop

  • Plan and coordinate plant tissue culture and regeneration activities for banana, cassava, and potato.
  • Develop and optimize tissue culture and embryogenic cell suspension protocols
  • Supervise large-scale multiplication and quality control of in vitro plant materials.
  • Coordinate regeneration, acclimatization, and transfer of plantlets to greenhouse and screenhouse facilities.

Job responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all scientific, technical, and administrative operations of the Centre of Excellence for Crop Biotechnology (COECB)
  • Provide strategic leadership for biotechnology research, capacity building, and infrastructure development in line with RAB and national priorities.

Job responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Lead, The Project Manager of BioCap has the following responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee implementation of project activities in accordance with approved work plans and budgets.
