Job Title: Licenced Aircraft Engineer- Structures

Reports to: Manager Line Maintenance

Job Purpose

To improve the overall aircraft performance, availability and continued airworthiness by providing a front line resplution of structural technical issues. Supports aircraft recovery in case of structural defects by working closely with other team members and Engineering to expedite solutions. Provides the required expertise in aircraft structural maintenance aspects

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational

• Exercise approval in relation to the accomplishment of scheduled, unscheduled maintenance and rectification of structural defects covering both sheet metal and composites.
• Ensure maintenance is accomplished to the required standards in a safe and efficient manner. For each repair, ensure proper completion of paperwork and attachment of all reference documents used for the repair.
• Carry out assessments, take actual measuresments, assess damages against SRM limits and compile reports for submission to OEM/Design Organizations in support of structural damage repairs.
• Provides technical knowledge to Line Personel in determining the structural limits and necessary repair scheme in applicable manual, structural reair work on the aircraft, course of action to be taken to get aircraft serviceable or limit/shorten the groundtime of the aircraft whenever structural discreapncies are found
• Review and make plans for resolution of open/deferred structural defects

• Coordinate all aspects to enable Sheet Metal and composite aircraft repairs, including all the work required in the work shops
• Evaluate Engineering Documents issued by Engineering/Planning and make arrangements for embodiment.
• Manage major structural repair and/or modification projects carried out within RwandAir maintenance facility
• Carry out visual inspections and use various tools and equipment to inspect aircraft structures for signs of
• damage, wear, or corrosion. Repair damaged or worn aircraft structural components, including fuselage, wings, empennage, and control surfaces.
• Fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal components like panels, fairings, and access doors.
• Installing and removing rivets, bolts, screws, and other fasteners where required.
• Understand and follow technical manuals, engineering drawings, and blueprints to perform maintenance tasks accurately and safely.
• Work closely with other maintenance personnel, such as avionics technicians, engine mechanics, and inspectors, to ensure comprehensive aircraft maintenance.

Management & Leadership

• Oversee and supervise employees/ mechanics. Direct daily activities to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
• Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place.
• To be committed and contribute to the National talent development, by coaching the national developees, preparing them for a career with boundless potential. Leading to the program’s continued growth and success.
• Train Rwandair staff in various duties as per business requirements

About You – Minimum Standard Qualifications & Experience;

Essential

• Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance or Trade or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification or Degree (B.Eng., BSc) or equivalent in aircraft engineering + holds an ICAO, EASA or FAAA or RCAA license
• Previous experience (minimum 5 years) working as an aircraft structure mechanic or Engineer in commercial aircraft.
• Deep knowledge of aircraft SRM, AMM and IPC. Understand the Structural repair processes with OEM
• Strong technical skills in aircraft structural repair, including proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and precision equipment
