We are seeking a Data Quality Analyst to join the Data Analytics department. You will serve as the quality assurance (QA) function for our data ecosystem, with a primary focus on validating the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of our data warehouse, marts, dashboards, and other organizational data assets. This role is central to building trust in data across the company by ensuring stakeholders can rely on insights for decision-making and operations.

What will you do

Data Validation & Quality Assurance

  • Validate the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data across the warehouse, marts, dashboards, and other data assets.

  • Conduct regular QA checks to ensure analytics outputs and business reports align with source systems.

  • Design and run validation scripts, reconciliation processes, and test cases to detect errors, anomalies, or missing data.

  • Monitor automated data refreshes, ETL jobs, and data pipelines, flagging quality issues proactively.

  • Provide recommendations to Analytics Engineers and Data Engineering teams to improve automated data quality checks and validation processes.

  • Define and monitor key data quality metrics, providing insights on trends, gaps, and risks to stakeholders.

Collaboration & Issue Resolution

  • Work with analysts to confirm dashboards and reports reflect correct and timely information.

  • Partner with data engineers and other technical teams to identify and resolve upstream or cross-department data quality issues.

  • Provide feedback loops to improve data governance practices and ensure reliable decision-making across the organization.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Document QA processes, validation results, and data quality standards to enable consistency and transparency.

  • Develop and maintain a framework for ongoing monitoring of data quality across different systems.

  • Share reports on data quality trends, risks, and progress with relevant stakeholders, recommending improvements.

  • Identify opportunities for improving data quality, suggesting process enhancements, and implementing automated validation solutions.

You will be a good fit if

Education & Background

  • You hold a degree in Computer Science (with a focus on Data Science/Data Engineering), Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field from a top-tier Rwandan or international institution.

  • You have some experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

Technical Skills

  • You have solid experience in SQL to check data accuracy and investigate discrepancies.

  • You are proficient in Python for automation, scripting, and building validation checks.

  • You have some experience with BI tools (e.g., Metabase, Power BI, Tableau) and can validate dashboards.

  • You understand data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipelines, and how data flows across them.

  • You have knowledge of data governance practices, including data lineage, metadata management, and compliance requirements.

Analytical & Quality Skills

  • You know key data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, validity).

  • You have strong attention to detail, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and anomalies others may overlook.

  • You can design and execute test cases and validation checks for data pipelines, similar to QA in software engineering.

  • You are skilled at root cause analysis and can trace data issues back to their source.

  • You are proactive in setting up monitoring and automated alerts for data quality issues.

Soft Skills & Mindset

  • You are detail-oriented, structured, and rigorous in testing.

  • You enjoy collaborating with engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to solve issues and improve processes.
