Job Summary
The Transactions Manager will be responsible for handling legal matters, coordinating contract drafting, reviewing and management, finding opportunities that align with company goals, ensuring company compliance with laws and regulations and negotiating the best deals for the company. Notes:
1.Possession of master’s degree in business law, Company Law, Commercial Law, Tax Law, Energy Law or any other related fields in law.
2. Possession of any other relevant Legal professional qualification is an added advantage.
3.Having at least five (5) years of experience in relevant legal related role, Three (3) years of which must be at managerial level. Prior in-house experience shall be an added advantage. OR 1. Possession of Bachelor (LL.B)’s in Business Law, Company Law, Commercial Law, Tax Law, Energy Law or any other related fields in law 2. Possession of any other relevant Legal professional qualification is an added advantage;
Key Responsibilities
Examining transaction processes and suggesting improvements
Evaluate the performance of the legal specialist in section in of Legal transactions
Manage, monitor and supervise the performance and development of staff in section in charge of Legal transactions in accordance with the department and Company’s goals, objectives, policies and regulations
Provide legal specialist in section in charge of Legal transactions with guidance on legal and governance issues or matters
Provide overall leadership of the legal section in charge of Legal transactions
Support various initiatives relating to the implementation of new legal and regulatory obligations
Developing and implementing transaction plans, goals, and objectives
Managing and overseeing day-to-day legal transactions
Ensure daily functioning of legal specialist in section of Legal transactions
Draft and review contracts and other legal documents for the company to ensure they are consistent and in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational risk policies
Provide training on contract provisions internally to the legal department staff
Works closely with other departments in the company in order to achieve client objectives
Advise management and departments on appropriate legal procedures and corrective action regarding any legal related matter
Lead in the implementation of the legal policies, process and procedures in line with the strategic objectives of Energy Utility Corporation Limited
Ensure the company meets its obligations to clients, ensuring that all tasks required to effectively close a transaction within required timelines are completed efficiently, professionally and timeously
Assess contractual liabilities, understand market and legal risks and mitigate contractually where possible
Identify contractual and operational compliance requirements for target customer segments
Provide corporate administrative expertise and guidance in relation to operational transactions, acting as a point of escalation both for clients and internally
Review, analyse and interpret laws and regulations and advise management on the same
Identify risk issues in relation to operational transaction and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and Company policies
Update the company legal policy in accordance with new laws, and communicate the same to the different stakeholders
Coordinate review of insurance policies and follow up on insurance claims to ensure appropriate compensation is provided timely
Review and execute contract documents involved, evaluate legal disputes arising there from or otherwise advising on appropriate legal positions to be taken in the company’s best interest
Regularly reports to the Head of Legal services
Ensure the company meets its statutory and regulatory obligations
Perform any additional work as required to assist with arising legal matters
Develop and submit to the Head of Legal Transactions Unit an annual work plan and financial budget
